Hi, my name is Ash and I have two horses stabled in Epping Forest, Essex England. A 18h Irish Draught called Duke of Diamonds....Murphy to his friends....and a 16.3h cob X called Chestnut.
I am an Author and I work part time in education....but spend every moment I can when not writing out on one or the other of my two boys.
Murphy is nine and was a severe abuse case...hating everybody for what had been done to him. Chestnut is ten and the only form of abuse he has ever had is to be kept waiting for his next meal!
Working with ‘Murph’ was part of the reason for me taking up writing again, and now also training other peoples problem horses with the knowledge gained from working with him.
I thought there was a gap in the market for fiction aimed at the horse mad amongst us...especially the twelve to adult and so I wrote my first novel SHADOWKNIGHT. It seems to be selling okay so I am now half way through the second of what I have christened the Shadowtales trilogy: FOALSONG.
They are what I term rural fantasy....set in the real world of stables and horses but with a bit of dark fantasy thrown in to the mix.
Anyone interested can follow the links on my site http://www.shadowtales.co.uk there are some chapters available to read to get a flavour of my work.
I will try and upload som pics of my boys later when I can work it out!
I look forward to chatting and swapping ideas with all you folks here
Ash XXX

Just write a bit every day...even if it's only a couple of hundred words of rubbish! Writing is just skill like any other that needs practice.

Yeah my boys are pretty big. Chestnut would be even bigger if he had the chance...he's the greediest horse I've ever met.
Murphy was originally destined for a career as a stud stallion in Ireland...but his size was, I think, one of the reasons he was abused. People thought they had to use brute force with a big, energetic animal and tried to beat him into submission. Anyway he was sold on as being impossible to handle and we got him, half starved, covered in scars, and trying to murder any human who came within ten feet of him. Five years of hard work later he is the best riding horse I have ever encountered...and while his temper can still get the best of him sometimes, he doesn't want to rip people to bits and stomp on the goo any more!
