Hi from icy Alberta

Hi Everyone,
I live near a town in North Central Alberta Canada. We have just come out of a spell of VERY cold weather. It hit below -40 a couple of nights last week.

I currently have 8 horses and a pony mule. My horses range from a 17 hand Percheron mare to a 12 hand Welsh Pony, and in age from 2 to 34 years old. They include Music-2 yr Welsh pony filly, Princess-4 year Welsh Pony filly, Belle-7 yr Percheron mare, Luke-8 yr Percheron Quarter Horse cross gelding, Vegas-10 yr Paint Mare, Tika-10 yr Quarter Horse mare, Treasure 25 yr Welsh Pony mare and "The Old Guy"- 33 yr grade pinto gelding.

2 years ago I retired from breeding Welsh Ponies. I had no more kids at home to ride them and not enough time to do it myself. I sold most of them except the ones listed here and my stud, who I gelded. He is now leased to my farrier and she and her 3 daughters all ride him.

2 summers ago I also attended my first Eventing clinic with Brazil, the ex-stud. I was hooked, him not s much. So | bought Luke to be my eventer. He is not without issues, but we are working through them and will be attending an eventing weekend this summer. I don't know how much he will be able to cope with but we'll take it as it comes.

My mule is now 3 years old and I will soon have a whole bunch of mule training questions, so watch out all you mule people out there!

I am looking forward to meeting you all here.

Welshrider.

I think the percheron could pull a pretty big wagon south, way way south.

Welcome! We used to be neighbours, I grew up in Hinton! I miss the snow but don't miss the -40 temps! As a kid I remember that when it hit -40, that was when we could stay home from school and the dog was allowed in the house

Welcome - I'm in Calgary. Totally enjoying the break from the sub zero temperatures.

Hope you'll share some pictures of your herd!
