My first horse was a small Belgian mare and she was perfect. (but I'm biased) She was pregnant by a TWH at the time we purchased her so with my first horse owning experience came an even better one; raising a foal. Twister was born May 5th of 2001 and was a wonderful beautiful girl. For 6 years she was the sunshine of my life.
She was sold when she was 6 and I've never been able to track her down. I just can't bring myself to give up though. Hopefully some day.
She was about a 1 month or so old here.
By the time she was 5 she was well over 16 hands.
Fast forward to today, I have no horses and I've only been dealing with them on and off. Some months ago, a neighbor's horses escaped and I ended up having to catch them. There was something about just being that close to horses again... the smell, the feel. Well I guess you guys understand.
I couldn't take it anymore.
I now hang out at a GREAT barn with some really great people and horses. We're all a big family there and I feel so lucky and blessed to be able to go there.
Being a plus sized rider (well, maybe more than plus sized. Lol) I'm uncomfortable riding most horses. I feel guilty, I suppose, so I tend to keep my feet on the ground, which is fine by me because my favorite thing to do is groom and just hang out. If I spend all day just sitting in a pasture singing or talking to horses, I'm content.
So, I'm glad to be here and I hope I can learn a few things!
