    Hi from New Zealand!

Hey everyone it is nice to be in the company of people as obsessed with horses as I am. I currently have just the one horse. Although in the future will be purchasing some land, how much land will determine how many horses I end up with!

My horse is Phoenix, she is a Suffolk Punch X. Her sire (deceased) was a pure SP and her dam is a Clydie/TB . I suppose that makes Phoeny a bit of a bitsa. Phoenix is a four year old bay mare, I broke her in myself last November (2008). She is still young so all I am doing with her is pleasure riding, just building muscle and fitness without overloading her. She is an exceptionally brave horse, absolutely nothing bothers her. She is also very sweet natured I have a three year old daughter who calls Phoenix here "Twu wuv". Riley goes out to Phoenix's paddock to visit her and Phoeny hangs her head over the fence so Riley can kiss and stroke her muzzle.

I am looking forward to sharing stories of my horse adventures with anyone who is interested. Also of getting advice and assistance as I decide what direction to take my beautiful big girl. By the way my name is Stephanie but prefer to be called Steph.

    Hey there!
Nice to see another NZer on here!!

You'll love it here, there's so much to learn and so many people to make friends with.
Phoenix sounds like an absolute charm!
I'm Chelle and I own two Standardbreds, although atm I'm not riding due to a broken leg.
Hope you enjoy yourself here :)

I plan to visit NZ someday! Does that count? Haha, welcome to the forum Steph! You have a beautiful mare, and I would say you did an excellent job at working with her =]

You can call me Rissa =]

Hi Chelle and Rissa, thanks for the welcome. I am pretty sure that I will enjoy myself here. The only problem is being spoilt for choice! So many threads to read and so many people to chat with. I am off to investigate the rest of the site.

By the way Chelle I hope the broken leg has nothing to do with a Standedbred that you know. Although I would suspect probably not as every Standardbred I have ever met has been very sweet and kind. I would think that your two are no exception. Infact I have a girlfriend who plans to get back into riding after about 15 years (and two boys) and I am trying to convince her to get a Standardbred. Unfortunately she has been stuck on getting a wrmblood although she trialed one about 3 months ago and it threw her and broke her collarbone in two places so she is leaning towards my idea oddly enough!

Anywho, off to have a look around. Catch ya's soon.

    Hey Steph!
I fell off my baby SB, Honey... it was a freak accident, and my balance let me down! There are always exceptions to the rule, but for the majority, I find SB's a perfect mount for most people. Because they come in so many different shapes and sizes these days, they can fit most types of riders too! My boy Evo, who's had the entire winter off, just came back into work with a mate, and he's had professional training... we thought he might take a bit to want to think with a work ethic again, but it was right there as soon as she was up... he was ready to strut his stuff - I was amazed, apart from lack of muscle he appeared as if he'd been ridden the whole time. Horses are truly amazing animals!!
