Smile A "Hi!" from west-central Wisconsin

Hi everyone - I'm really excited to have found this forum! My name is Lisa and I'm a 39-year old wife and mom of two. I moved my entire family from Chicago to Boyd, Wisconsin, in August of 2010 - what a change! But a great change it is!

My husband and I work from home, and our lifestyle affords us lots of free time to spend with animals. We currently rent a farmhouse that is surrounded by 180 acres of pasture and woods, and alongside our house is a great paddock and several fenced off acres for horses, goats...whatever we want! We plan to buy our home and a small parcel of land when our current lease is up in September 2012.

This spring, after the snow melts and we clean up the paddock a bit, we'll be getting our first horse. This horse will be for me, and while I'm pretty good at riding western, I have no clue about the actual care of a horse...and I'm just pretty overwhelmed with it all! So overwhelmed that I'm afraid I'll never actually bite the bullet and buy a horse! LOL

I hope to learn a lot here at the forum and in the future, I hope to be one that can give back by instructing others who are in my current "newbie" shoes...

Hi GypsyGirl! Are you SO ready for winter to be over? I sure am! I just want to see a darn horse in that pasture already! LOL

I'm "window shopping" on Craigslist constantly. LOL But we still have three feet of snow in the paddock, so nothing's happening until we have a BIG thaw. And that can't happen fast enough for me.
