Hi from WI!

Hi Everyone!

I've been a follower of this site for a long time and thought I would "jump-in" and introduce myself and get started meeting everyone officially!

I live in Madison WI and have been riding for most of my life. I started out young - around age 5 riding and doing local shows. Did Hunters in high school and then in college I worked as a camp counselor and instructor at a few overnight horse camps. A few years after school, I found an amazing local instructor and got back into the Hunter circuits. In the 3 1/2 years I've been with her, I showed local low hunter's and have since moved onto Dressage.

Totally found my passion with Dressage. I admit, nothing quite approaches the thrill of jumping, but there is something in the precision and perfection of dressage that just cant be explained. I've always been sort of a perfectionist so it fits well with me! Plus, the collected feel and energy of a horse in the ring while riding a test is unbeatable!

I purchased my first horse from my trainer just his year -- a just turned 6, pure black HA/Hanoverian. He's amazing, the most perfect horse in the world, no contest. His temperate on the ground is sweet as can be, just like a puppy dog, but boy does he have energy and his own, strong, opinion under saddle. Recently took him to a local open show to get him used to being away from the barn (only his second time) and he was pretty nervous. So, needless to say, the next several months will be spent slowly getting him used to traveling and showing.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to some great conversations!

Thanks! I'm hoping, like you said, it'll be a long and happy partnership! He's only 6, so its nice to know we have years ahead of us together. Considering his age though, I'm sure I'll have lots of questions on his training and some of dressage stuff!

Hello! I just joined as well & I'm originally from Wisconsin, too, the Eau Claire area. Your man is beautiful! :)

To see the wind's power, the rain's cleansing, and the sun's radiant life, one need only to look at the horse.
