Talking Hi ya'll, from WV! :)

Hello, everyone! Just before posting my intro, I saw that I was preceeded by another West Virginian. I'm located on the WV/KY border in Mingo County. Been here my whole life! I'm 24, been married 4 years to the best man in the world. And last January, I gave birth to our first and (so far) only daughter. I am also a grad student, so my life is expected to be extremely busy for at least the next 2 years...

I have been around horses my entire life, but have never called one my own. I joined the forum so that I can learn a lot about the different breeds of horses before I get my first horse. My husband has owned horses his entire life, and his last horse just passed away 2 years ago. Before that, we used to ride together. When I was younger, I rode trail horses, but then in high school I made friends with a girl whose father was into TN Walkers, and they have a business and show. My husband did the same. So, I haven't been on any of the beautiful WV trails, only a few small ones. However, I am mostly interested in trail riding, like I used to do. I went on an overnight trail and camping trip when I was about 15, and a lot of my friends went (at Bob Evan's Farm). They let you "rent" the horses, and then their guides take you out and it's 3 hours out and 3 hours back if I remember correctly.

Anyway, I'm rambling. :) But I'm glad to be here! And I won't be getting a horse until after I graduate and we purchase a bigger place... we're shooting for 2 years from now.

Thanks, neighbor! I'm really excited to learn as much as I can about horses before owning one. I figure it's like any other animal... just being exposed to them is a lot different from being responsible for one. And I want to know EVERYTHING. Forums are usually the best places to find links and knowledgeable folks who can steer you in the right direction. I appreciate the welcome.
