If I didn't have a friend who has had horses all her life and a wonderful Natural Horsemanship teacher, I don't think I would own a horse right now!
There is just so much to know and learn, it is mind boggling!
Anyways, I'm Karin, I have been taking Natural Horsemanship classes once a week for over two months now. First it was one hour a week, and now I doubled up to two hours a week. Unfortunately, I have to drive 1 3/4 hours to my classes.
The exciting part is, that on Saturday, I purchased my first horse, a mustang mare named Tulley! I am boarding her at my teachers ranch, since she will be trained in natural horsemanship. I will get to work with her once a week, and my teacher is training her every day as well. She's had some groundwork done and has been ridden four times, so I guess she would be called green broke. Very mellow mare, from what I have seen. She didn't seem worked up at all, being in a new place and all.
I'm hoping in a couple of months time we both will be ready to have Tulley come home. I have five acres surrounding my house, that she will live on. I am going to try and only minimally restrict where she can go to maximize her freedom. But yeah, my flowerbeds will be off limit, lol.
Tomorrow I'll get to see her for the first time, since Saturday. I can't wait to get to know her. :)
