HOw to get in Horse industry???

I'm 21 years old and I just started taking classes for equine managment which is awesome. We work one on one with the instructor and hands on with horses. I find myself wanting to do more around horses. I volunteer at a protection league. But still want to be around horses all day! Any suggestions?

I think you've started off right by volunteering, for sure!

I would suggest contacting (and visiting!) local barns and asking if they need help. If they hire you on, you will probably have to start doing the icky boring stuff like mucking stalls, but if you show a strong work ethic, you'll eventually gain more respect and better jobs!

What is it you would like to do specifically? Training? Managing a barn? Equine massage? Etc

Hi there!(: glad to hear that you've taken an interest to horses! You could try volunteering at a handicap riding program, where you could lead horses around and help out handicapped children. Also, add as many horse people you can find on facebook! We always have fun horsey things to do/ that we need help with! Or you could try to take some lessons at a local stable! Hope this helps (:

Thank you guys! I will look into those things. Im not exactly sure what I want to do, I'm kind of leaning towards training but we will see. As my classes go on hopefully I will know soon.
