By the way...I've never actually heard anyone say 'howdy' in a serious way :P

Hi everyone! My name is Laura and I'm a 17 year old rider.

I started in 5th grade, so I think I must have been about 12 or so. I started off riding english because one of our family friends was an instructor at a local barn. Since then, I've ridden at about 5(???) different barns.

Currently, I own a paint gelding named What A Proposal aka Ryan. I bought him as a western pleasure horse a year ago, and am slowly turning him into a hunter jumper :) We've only jumped 2'3" at this point but I'm hoping we'll start to progress a lot faster in the near-future.

I guess it must just be the area (I'm in the suburbs of Houston) but I hear people greet eachother with a quite serious 'howdy' all of the time XD

Welcome fellow Texan!! I'm technology challenged too along with my computer because I can't see the pic of Ryan :( but I'm sure he's beautiful! I'm also a paint fan!
