I'd like to find my horses previous owner

I rescued an appaloosa from the new holland(Pennsylvania) kill pen, he had been bought by a kill broker names brian moore, which means that he could have come from pretty much any auction(or private seller) as this guys buys horses from all over and runs them through auctions all over and tries to get as much money as he can for the horse, and those that he doesn't sell he ships to slaughter in Canada and Mexico. I bought Legacy in June and he has some pretty severe trust issues and i would really like to know more about his history and what he was used for, i've been trying for months to figure out where he came from with no luck, i suspect that he may have been used as one of those pay to ride trail horses because he seems to be very well broke but yet not used to affection, he's great for tacking up but doesn't seem to understand being touched affectionately, i've taken him out on the trail once and he was very good until the horse in front of him started getting too far ahead, then he wanted to rush to catch up...here are a few pictures of him, please let me know if you have any ideas how i could find more about him
