    Talking I'm Another Noob...

Hi. I'm new here. Still trying to figure out how this site works.I have been a regular poster on a more local forum and have become highly disillusioned with the "cliqueishness" so I decided to look elsewhere for horse related chat and BOOM! Here I am.

So a little about me...My name is Stacy and I live in Texas. I currently own 4 horses- a Tennessee Walker gelding, a Paso Fino mare, a grade gaited mare who prefers to trot, and a grade filly out of a gaited mare. The filly shows no inclination to gait, but that may change once she's under saddle. I run barrels, I trail ride with a nice group in my area, and I work on barter with my trainer as an assistant. I ride all sorts of horses on a regular basis, but I don't think I will ever call myself an "experienced rider", lol. IMO, there is always too much to learn for me to get too big for my britches. My horses are kept at home so I do not board and know very little about how that system works. I have taken in a few rescue horses over time so I do have some experience with rehabbing those who have been neglected. I am definitely a "mare person". I love mares and would pick an ugly mare over a gorgeous gelding every time . I have no idea why- I am just drawn to mares and always have been since I was a kid.

My background is that I grew up riding until I was about 13. We moved to the city and I did not ride again until about 5 years ago when I bought a three year old filly who is now my 8 year old barrel mare. I paid less than $1000 for her at 3 and have invested several thousand in her training over the years, lol! She has been a really expensive "cheap" horse, lol. She is my baby though and I would do it all over again. She is my "forever horse". I have lots of stories I could tell and I'm sure they will come out eventually, but for now that is enough of an introduction, I suppose.

    Yearling
Hello from Montana, and Welcome to the Forum!

I have found I have the strongest, most trusting bond with my mare, Jazz.
I love my geldings too, but the relationship just is not quite the same....
