I've always been an animal lover, but for one reason or another I could never get into horses when I was younger either because my parents wouldn't have had the time to bring me or we didn't have the money, but I've finally started taking lessons earlier this spring! I couldn't be happier to be joining the horse world finally.
I started taking lessons at a small family owned barn that only opened last year, and I'm half-leasing a 14 year-old grey QH gelding named Blue. I started taking my lessons western and am now starting to try out English as well, since I'm going to be taking lessons at an English barn over the winter (no indoor arena where I'm going now). When I ride Blue as part of my lease though I prefer riding him bareback in a halter to anything else.
I'm a student now, studying animal health technology - which will allow me to be a vet tech when I graduate. I'm hoping to be able to find work with an equine vet when that day comes! I've also been working at a holistic pet food store for three years and I'm loving it.
Aside from horses and school, I have somewhat of a zoo at home - 1 husky/shepherd mix, 2 cats, 1 bird, 4 snakes, 2 geckos, 4 tarantulas and 2 scorpions. I also collect oddities - mostly bones and preserved specimens. May it be said that I have very expensive hobbies haha.
So that's me! If you stayed with me through that whole novel of a post, I appreciate it!
