    Smile Introduction...

Hello, I'm Brittmilt a 15 year old girl who's crazy about horses. When I was younger I took lessons and did very well with English riding, but when the economy became too much I had to sell my green broke Arabian to a family that could care for him and finish the training required. I was also forced to give up my lessons. It has been 4 years since the economy was too much to handle and I've decided to get back into riding. However, the years that have gone by since I last rode a horse has left me without any knowledge on how to ride or care for a horse. I recently got a horse from an old member on this forum named Quinn. He's an 11 year old Appaloosa who's completely trained. I board at a stable where the owner is re-teaching me what I need to know and by the end of the school year I'll be able to own a second horse. My dad already has plans to buy me another horse in the summer when I've re-learned everything I once knew. There's other reasons that he's buying another horse for me besides the fact that I love horses and wanted another one. He wants to get lessons with me and ride horses with me, so he's planned to buy me another horse to ride while he learns to ride on Quinn who's already trained. Once my dad knows how to ride I plan on giving my second horse to him so that he has his own horse. He's pretty much getting another horse for himself rather than me, I guess. That's ok though because I love Quinn with all my heart.

Welcome to the forum and how wonderful that your dad wants to explore this sport too! The few times my dad went riding with me (when I was a teen) were some of my most special moments. Lucky you!

Lol, I don't see how I'm a lucky Chickypoo, but I love the idea that my dad wants to join me in this sport. My brother argues that riding horses isn't a sport and I have no clue how to argue back. I've already told him that it takes more effort than any of the sports that a regular kid would do and he doesn't seem to believe me. My mom wants to be interested, but she admits that she's scared to be around horses which is the first problem that she needs to get over. I don't think she can get over her fear of horses though. She's tried for years to get over it, but I understand if it doesn't work out. It's safe to say that my dad and I are very close because of this sport.

    Welcome to the Forum!

You are lucky because you have a father that wants to share something with you. You are lucky because you are going to own and take care of not 1 but 2 horses. I know girls that came over to my house just to muck out stalls and were happier than fleas on a dog :) They eventually moved up to riding my horses after they did what was asked but I had so much fun also.

Enjoy every minute! And of course we will want to see some pics! Lol!

Oh and Helllllllo from another Michigander!!!

Welcome, from another newbie. Lots of nice people here, so enjoy.

I agree with tinyliny, you are fortunate because alot of parents just don't go that extra mile to care (and get involved) with what their kids are doing. Your Dad is spending money, learning a new thing, and taking chances for his actually grown daughter. Alot of folks don't have parents that will go out on a limb for a sport/hobby, even for their child.
