Never introduced myself.

I once worked at a farmish...place. When I was younger. But that is in the past and I have minimal contact with the horses I fell for. This is one reason for why I joined this forum.

Secondly, My sleep is horrifying. Night terrors. All to do with those horses. The ones that sleep peacefully accross the street. The ones I am no longer permitted to care for...

So I have come here to implore you...Can you tell me what I have to do to rid my mind of the horses?

This may sound ludacris but...These nightmares are hideous, and painful.

Have you tried therapy? Sounds as if you have much more going on that just not being allowed to be around the horses across the way.

Thanks for your hasty response Speedracer, but therapy isn't an option right now. And yes, other troubling matters are, infact, fudging with my head...

Cons of equines are what I am looking for I guess...Like, sheep...I can't see them as buddies because they all appear to think alike...That is a common one I guess. Or jackals...they kill baby seals just for sport...that is mean..so I can swing the detachment from them...even if they are cute...

Of course this is all irrelevent because I've never been emotionally close to a lamb, a jackal or a seal...Sooo...

Tell me that Stoner can't feel the death of his pasturemate like I can..Tell me that they don't have morals. Convince me that I have no reason to care anymore...

Stoner isn't human, so no, he doesn't process death the same way we do. Horses do mourn of course, but for far less time than humans, and they have an amazing capacity to recover quickly. That's nature's doing, because a prey animal prostrate with grief wouldn't last long.

Morals? No, they're not 'moral' in the human sense. They do not understand good and evil or right and wrong. Everything they do is based on their perception of the world around them, how they're treated, and how they process and react to it. Their first instinct is survival of their individual self, then survival of their species as a whole.

I can't convince you not to care anymore, but it's up to you to find another creature on which to lavish affection; one you can own yourself. Caring about animals that you don't own and over which you have no control can be very depressing. You need to find another outlet for your concern, and not continue to internalize and obsess over someone else's animals.
