    A little about me..

I have been around horses for all my life but took 2 years off due to my last horse Shadow passing away (he was my baby and was 32), The reason why I got back in the saddle so to speak was because of my friend she knew that I had been able to deal with trouble horses in the past and asked if I would help out with one of her horses, Labernash was a six year old horse bought from an auction five years ago when they got him he was drugged and would not allow anyone to approach him because of this he was left in the field to sort of run wild with the other horses...
He had a history of being 'dangerous' if you approached him with a halter, he hated the sight of any kind of rope and really he was untouchable, I said sure because I owed her a favor and went out into the field within five minutes (much to my friends surprise) I had caught him and brought him into the barn my friend still doesn't know why he trusts me so much because honestly I did not think that after being out of practice for 2 years I would be able to do that.
Right now I am riding other peoples horses (including Labernash) and my friend told me that if I wanted Laber's I could have him, I told her I would take him but I have to finish school before I can look at it fully so right now they are holding him for me until I am done but during the spring/summer I am going to be working with him as much as I can(I think he's wonderful though and I would not give him up for the world)...

    So yeah that's my story...

Very cool. Perhaps you could explain how you approached and haltered him. There are lots of people who post here unable to catch their horses.

The key to haltering him was not to go right to him, he was so used to people trying to get him by going straight to him instead I started by petting the other horses that were around him sort of ignoring him and not looking at him for a bit until he relaxed by lowering his head, I then just walked over to him calmly and pet him and walked off which made him sort of think about it so he started to follow me a little ways and then I would stop and do the same thing over and over again sort of drawing him, until he finally got comfortable with me petting him and following me around then I slipped the rope around his neck and got him haltered.
