I also did the same thing you did, taking a 10 year break from riding. When I jumped back in I did get ripped of with the first horse I bought. Just make sure you can do a trial and try lots of things with the horse and also get a trainers opinion. I thougt I still knew what I was doing after my long break and ended up loosing $1000. I bought the first horse I looked at for $1200 off of craigslist. The lady told me he was a good family safe horse. By the time I got him to the place I would be boarding he was trying to kick and bite and threw my husband into the wall. At the time I didnt have the skills to know what to do so I traded him for a $200 credit to a friend of the trainer for my horse Thunder. You will love riding again, but be very careful people will rip you off if they can!
