Hey there! I have been a frequent lurker but recently I decided to join. I am a 15 year old sophomore at my local high school and my sister is 16. We have both been taking lessons at a nearby stable for 5 years. We competed in many shows but for the past 2 years I had to take a break. In 2006 I got bucked off my lesson horse and broke both my wrists. I still rode but had to be lead around since I could not hold the reins. About a year later I went on a trail ride with my sister and the trail horse I was on spooked and bolted down a hill. I fell off and tore my ACL in my left leg, my teeth went through my bottom lip and needed stitches. The right side of my face lost all feeling and became droopy due to the nerve damage. The doctor feared I would not be able to control the right side of my face. Good news is the nerves came to life 3 months later and I am back to normal. Even though I lost a lot of confidence I am slowly gaining it back on a small bomb-proof pony.
A few weeks ago the owner of the stables decided to give me and my sister both horses if we worked at their farm and earn their keep. We decided to go for it (with our parents permission) and should be getting two horses in the spring. I have to go to work tomorrow but will be sure to take some pictures.
