New Girl to the Group!

Hey! My name is Ashley! I'm new to the group and thought I'd introduce myself and my horses. I'm also on DraftHorseVillage. I'm 20, 21 in June and I live in Maine. I have three horses right now, but am selling one to a good home and she'll be leaving in the next week or so. I also own a pit bull named Terra and am a very big supporter of the breed, trying to promote them as good farm dogs, family dogs, and companions.

My Horses.

Sam: 9 month old Belgian Draft Horse colt. (and major butthead)

Dakota aka Kodi: 3 year old QH cross filly. (bit pushy but a sweetheart)

Bella: 14 year old QH mare. (sold and going to her new home soon)

And my doggie, Terra

Sam was born here at the farm, and at weaning time, his dam was sold. I plan on raising him and training himto ride and drive. Riding wise I plan on doing some dressage and maybe some jumping with him and driving wise I plan on doing carriage rides for weddings, proms, etc and sleigh rides. I can't wait to get him gelded, he's in dier need of brain surgery, but his man-parts haven't shown yet lol.
Kodi is newest to the farm. I got her about a week and a half ago. Her previous owner spoiled her with treats so she's a little pushy. She's also been alone since she was weaned so she has very little horse-social skills, but she's learning fast. She is not broke to ride, so that's going to be my summer project. So far I've had her tacked up and we've worked on lunging. She accepts the bit like a pro, doesn't raise her head or fight against taking the bit. She just stood there for the saddle pad, saddle and girth. She has a lot of potential! We're going to start ground driving soon. I want good ground work as our foundation before I get on her... it'd be nice if she knew how to go, stop and turn before I get on lol. We're training english and I hope to do lower levels of dressage and jumping, and we'll also be doing trails. My goal for the summer is to have her going strong enough and confident enough to go on an organized trail ride in October.
Bella is a good girl, she's trained really well western and neck reins. She was just a little too easy for me and I was getting bored with her being a push button type, so I got Kodi and found Bella a good home where she's going to be used as a trail horse.

Guess thats it, hope to meet you all and get some good inspiration and advice!

- Ashley

Welcome! Love your horses and the puppy

I literally lol'ed at this. He's a cute one though.
Btw, your pit is pretty. I love them and would much rather have a pit than any Jack Russell or Chihuahua. They're great dogs and I wish people truly understood there is no such thing as a bad dog...only bad owners.
