new horse owner and member saying Hi!

Just got our mare tonight.. sorta. Boarding her but we spent our first evening petting, grooming and feeding a few carrots. Not sure how we start this whole new relationship, I grew up on a horse but that was 30 years ago and my 12 year old daughter started riding lessons last August. Any suggestions on how to create a lasting bond and begin our horse/child relationship?

It sounds like you have a good start. Most horse owners say they want the horse to see them as the herd leader. I say I want the horse to see me as its mother.
