Hello everyone. I'm a newbie here and wanted to introduce myself. I'm a single mom of 2. My son is 11 and my daughter is 7. We just recently purchased a 16 year old Thoroughbred gelding named Caesar. I grew up riding horses. My parents used to own a boarding stable years ago and those are some of the best days of my life, being in 4-H, trail riding with my friends, bailing hay...(though, I hated it back then..lol).

Now...I work full-time and have shared custody with the kid's dad. We keep Caesar boarded not too far from our house and the kids are really enjoying him. I'm excited about teaching them how to ride and everything else that comes with taking care of a horse. I believe it gives you a great amount of confidence and teaches responsibility.

Caesar is a very good boy. He is so calm and quiet. I was looking for a quiet temperament first off this time instead of something young and beautiful. Looks don't keep you safe.

Caesar does tend to get arthritis and if anyone has any suggestions for a good joint supplement...I'm looking for a good one that won't break the bank.

Thanks for reading...looking forward to meeting some other horse people and reading your stories.

Hello! Welcome to the forum! Nice to meet you :)

I'm sure someone here can help you out with finding a good joint suppliment. I would post something in the health section. I myself don't know much about them.

I totally agree with you on the fact that horses teach you a lot about responsibility and confidence. It sure helped me out! Your kids are very lucky to have you :)

Have fun posting!
