    Stopping by to say Hi!

Well, my childhood dream of owning a horse finally came true! My husband just bought me my first horse, and I am beyond excited! So I thought I would come online and see what sort of community support is out there.

I am Victoria, and live in west Texas, near Midland/Odessa. Originally though I am from the east coast of England. I fell in love with horses when I was about 3 yrs old, then at the age of 8 or 9 I gave up ballet classes to take riding lessons (in English style naturally). I had to give up regular lessons when I was about 13 as my father lost his job and the lessons became too expensive. However, every chance I could get I would ride friend's horses.

When I moved to Texas I tried valiantly to find a place to ride English style, but wasn't successful until recently. I have tried Western style a bit, but I am just in love with English.

About 2 months ago I found a place not too far from me that offered English riding, specifically Classical, so I went a long to get back in the saddle and fell in love with it all over again. Then last week the stable owner, who has become a friend, told me a friend of hers was moving her two Arabians to the stables, and they were for sale (due to health problems of the owners). I went along on Sunday to ride them, and fell in love with one. After chatting to my husband about the ros nd cons he agreed to purchase the horse for me.

So I am now a new, proud mama to a beautiful flea-bitten grey Arabian mare! She's 20 years old, but looks like she's 5! Perfect health, gentle, and beautiful to ride. She's ideal as an English pleasure riding horse, which is what I wanted.

Now I am eager to soak up all the information I need to take care of her. The stable owner is helping me, but I'm an internet addict so here I am.

Congrats on your new horse! I ride English and Western, mostly English though and I also had a hard time finding a facility in Colorado. Enjoy your girl!
