I use to own a couple of quarter horses & 2 Haflingers were drove. My husband got colon cancer & could no longer put the hay in the loft. I guess we should have sold them. We could have used the $$ for medical bills. I wanted more control where they went & what happened to them. I contacted 3 local horse 4H groups & took interviews from parents, kids & the Leader. I had a contract drawn up so if they ever wanted to get rid of them they would come back to us. The kids who took our Quarter horse were 9 & 12. That was 15 years ago. The kids are out of college & still have the horses who are now 18 & 22. They are just pasture buddies for the younger horses the girls now have. I still get written updates & pictures. They got such good homes. The gentleman who got the Halflingers sold them with in a year moved out of state. I can only hope & pray they went to a good owner.
At present I am in Kidney Failure. I have dialysis 3 time a week for 3 1/2 hours each time. I long for the freedom my hores gave me. I have a lot to do before I get a horse. Fix fence, get the resident possum out of the barn. Find an honest hay source. My husband is healty & is willing to help load the hay & straw in the loft. I quit smoking & am putting that $$ aside for hay & purchase a horse. I hope to get one with in the next year if all goes well. I will need one that is calm & trafic safe. It might take a long time to get what I need but the wait is worth it. Mean while a friend is willing to let me come help with her horses. I look forward to hearing about your horses.
