The day in the life of Heartbreaker! (aka Romeo)

Ok, I am going to keep a log on here!

Today 8-2-08
I just got back from the barn. Romeo was at the top of the hill, so I walked up to get him, he was by the big tree when I got up there, but then he walked away from me, so I went after him, he did that for about 2 minutes, then I went over to the other boys and petted the\m, and he looked at me and just stopped! So I went over and haltered him, and I decided to ride him down, so I tried to get on him "indian style" for like 5 minutes and I finally did it for the first time in my life!! And lets just say Romeo is bombproof to being kicked, clawed, squeels from the person on him etc. haha!
Then we started to walk to the hill to go down to the arena, but he starting fighting with me, so I rode him to his buds, got off, and we lunged for a good 10 minutes at a trot both ways, and after doing that 2 times, he went to the hill, and then we got about 100 feet from the top (where his buds were) and he tried to go up this mini steep hill thingy, and I almost slid off, so I turned his head toward the trail again, and gave him a kick, then he went to the trail, I got off, walked him to a little stump thing and then got back on him, and I told him if he takes care of me, I will take care of him, so we peacefully went all the way down the hill. That is the first time I have ridden down that hill bareback at all, and that is the first time Romeo has been ridden down that hill bareback! He did good!

Then we got to the arena, and I brushed him, then I got the lunge line on him and we walked around the arena, did some desensitizing to little kids screaming (he might be in a parade this september!!).
Then I was standing (in a relaxed position) and he started to lunge! so I let him go around like 3 times, and then when he got to my back, I was like "Romeo whoa" in a nice relaxed voice, and he stopped!
Then I lunged him again at a trot, he went like 3 circles, and I breathed out, he went to a walk, I breathed out again, he stopped! He was being so good!

We also worked on pivoting which he did great with also!!

I will post some more from like last month that I didn't ever get to post so this next couple things will be a bit out of order!
