5.24.10 (yesterday)
So, got to the barn around 16.20, and Mendi (BO) got home early, around 16.45 or so. She came up to the top barn around 17.00 and got the fan set up at the back of the aisle between the stalls and got the horses fed..I accidently fed Lucky the half scoop of sweet feed that was suppose to go to Toby instead of her senior, so she was a little more hyper than normal. ;-; I still feel bad. >.<;; She said it wasn't a big deal though..
So, I went to go put Dude's bridle on, which took about 5-8 minutes or so, because I wanted to make sure I didn't hurt his ears or get shoved into the wall again. ;-; I finally got it on and walked him down to the cross ties. I tacked him up, minus tightening his girth nice..Mendi helped me with that. I think I'm going to try to do it with my other hand tonight and see how that goes, and if I can get it tighter that way. The bolt on the right stirrup ended up popping off, and we couldn't get the thing to come far enough out of the stirrup so Mendi had to go down to the house and try to fix it. The stirrup ended up really wide (and they're already extra-wide stirrups D: ), so we have to cut it a little and redo it sometime this week..
So-Mendi worked on his sidepassing a bit, he's still not too great going to his left..so that needs work. I worked walked him around the round pen while Drew was using it with Toby (since he was an ass yesterday and tried tossing him) and then he let me in. I worked on trotting, I got both a slower trot and a working trot; I worked on posting and sitting for both of those. And then we decided to go on a trail ride. :#
We went down the rockslide (had to make sure Dude didn't slide into Skippy, or Skippy probably wouldn't have been able to get back up. ;-; )
We came out at the other end of the hay field and walked along the side and up the hill. Btw-"we" is Mendi, Drew, Lucky's rider (can't remember her name. D: is sorries) and me..we stopped at the bottom of the second hill and waited till they were..mostly calm and we ran them up the hill. I'm actually rather proud of myself, since last time I ran, I wasn't very balanced at the gallop, but I was almost perfectly balanced (from how I felt) and I'm pretty sure my feet still stayed up by his girth. :3 The grass felt funny on my legs. XD
Then we came back and hosed down Skippy (who didn't run, coz he's older and he probably would have died. ;-; He did really good on the trail though, coz he wasn't huffy almost at all), Dude, Lucky and Illusion.
Skippy and Izzy were taken back down to the run-in. I went down to feed them..since my mum had been waiting down at the bottom of the driveway for 20 minutes. ;-; But I ended up not being able to coz Drew had flipped the hay holder thing (sorry I can't remember the name. *facepalm* and it's too heavy for me to get down alone..so I waited for him and we took it down and called the horses in to eat..We didn't let them in though, coz Skippy tried rolling, and ended up too close to the fenceline where he got stuck last time, and wouldn't get up. ;-; He just kept looking at himself like: I'm 'bout to die... ;-; So, we called Mendi down, Drew went up for the tow rope so we could pull him up from right beside the fence so he wouldn't get caught in it. Mendi, Lucky's rider (I still sorry D: ) and I flipped him over, so his feet/legs wouldn't get stuck in the fence when we tried gettin him up. And we all (Mendi, Latonya [Mendi's mum], Adario, Drew, Alija [don't know how to spell it]) ended up pushing him up and finally got him standing and we went to feed him. Then we locked everything up and finally got in the car to hear my mum hollerin' at me because Mendi asked for my help. >.o;; Skippy was down for a good 45 minutes, probably a little more. Mendi said sorry and thanks, I said sorry..does she not understand that just because I don't own the horse, it doesn't mean that I can just leave it to die at the bottom of the hill??? I thought it was just plain rude and inconsiderate. I was there, I helped, and it would have taken a lot longer since everyone that she could have called was either working or sleeping. >.<;;
But yeah..that was yesterday. I do feel rather accomplished, I worked on my seat and position the whole time, I didn't just slack off coz I got sore. :3 Mendi was impressed, or atleast she looked it. Lol
I'm going again today..I don't think I'd mind another trail ride, or possibly some work on poles/stakes and barrles, since the show on saturday is a gaming show, and Dude has never done any of it, let alone been to a show. ;-;
