January 10th; The day my life changed for the better. I was no longer thinking about my skills as a rider but I was now thinking about a horse with no knowledge of a world full of love, care and compassion. His world consisted of starvation, pain and no understanding from a single human being, I guess that was the day his life changed too.
I have now owned Joe for a year and so much has happened in a small time. This journal will keep you updated on our rides, competitions, and acheivements as horse and rider.
I guess I should introduce myself; my name is Abbie; I am 15 year old, and am currently in year 10 at a catholic school. I have a B grade average, and take life as it comes, one day at a time right? (:
I have been riding horses since I can remember and am saddened at the thought of horses soon being taken away from me due to school, but I wont let that happen.
My horses name is Society Joe; he is 15.3hh and was a pretty bad race horse, he only won 13,000.. My pop found him, rescued him and gave him too me after 3 years of him sitting in a paddock. Joe was skinny, had long feet and his mane was long, dead and hung off his neck looking shabby.
The first time I rode him was a time I won't forget, he walked with his head in the air often tossing it around, and snatching the bit, he jumped into trot while tossing his head, and his canter was rushed and unbalanced. I didn't care, I just wanted to take him home, put a warm blanket on him and let him know that he is going to be loved forever.
We bonded straight away, in the first couple of hours I had met him, he was nickering after just seeing me walk into the stables. I had completey fallen in love with him and I would do anything to help him.

This photo was taken 3months after I had gotten him, you probably would believe it, but he was actually doing really well that day.
