I thought it would be interesting to write what I'm doing with my two angels, so here I am. I'm also looking forward when I'll be reading the post from the begging in like 3 months from now
Look what I couldn't do then! Hahaha
Well to introduce myself: I'm 17yo girl, working with horses for 8 years now. 8 years ago I finally convinced my mom to let me to riding school, and I spent two days a week there, for five years. Then my biggest wish came true. I got Candilla (called Candy for short), my holsteiner mare, today almost 14 years old. For half a year I had her in my friends stable, after that she came to new build little stable 70feet away from my home
She was lonely, my mom didn't allow to buy another horse and Candy eventually became friend with my dog Skip (german shepard). They were always together, even at night, he was sleeping in the next "room". Skip was quite old and he began to have problems with walking. Then I succeded to convince mom in buying a pony for Candy. We got Vrisk (in english that would mean something like squeal
), my rescued pony. Dirty, bad behaviour, laminits, uncut hoofs... He's pretty okay today. About 6-8yo, one of his eye (the right one) is half blue
So now I'm on my own for 3 years. The worst problem I have is no trainer
Noone is watching me and my riding became quite awful. I'm surviving my horses with scholarship, so I have no money to get someone to train me. My parents are doing a back up, if there comes a huge vet bill, but nothing more. I decided to start training myself, since I knew things, but I just stopped using them
I'll see how it'll go. This journal will help me see what I should do and if I'm progresing at all.
14.3.2011 (yesterday): rode Candy for a bit less then an hour. We did a quick trail in walk to warm up, then go back home to trot and canter. My legs are awful, I'm not holding with them and they go way too forward. My heel comes up time to time. My posture (right word?) is like I would be sitting beside the computer. My hands are too low, and they don't really hold the reins. And a bunch of other mistakes I didn't really notice.
That comes up when you ride for 3 years just on trails (well okay, once a month I did some riding in arena, but wasn't careful to ride corectly).
Played with Vrisk, he is quite good, backing up, moving his hind... Lunging tomorrow(for the third time)!
