my journey with Blue:)
I got a job working with green broke horse at the end of may and have been done with 2 of the less green horses so far. One specifically is taking a bit longer, Blue, but he is going to be a great horse! He is going to be a dude-string horse and has the Perfect attitude for it. All that dude string horses do is walk and trot to catch up to horses in front of them so its pretty much the perfect job for Blue as he is a follower not a leader. He is a little spooky still and I am working with a blanket sheet(for a house bed lol) and letting him walk and trot over it. He is doing great with that.
I am also, walking him around in the round pen and dragging the sheet around on the ground so that he can get used to stuff being dragged behind him in case someones jacket or something like drags.. who knows lol..
When I first starting to work here. Blue had a halter on because he was so hard to catch. He was in a pen. A HUGE pen with other horses with hay and all the things that he needed.. He has a wonderful owner and everything that he needs he gets. (vet, feet ect,.) I was working with Thunder a haflinger gelding at that time because he had an attitude... and you can't put kids on a pony that doesn't listen. NOW, Thunder is one of my BO good kid horses I believe:)/ and Blue was my next project. She new that it would take me a while to get a connection with Blue because he was really shy and didn't want to be caught. Not because he didn't want to work, it was more like a fear of being hurt or something. I'm not sure of his past before my BO.
Since working with Blue for maybe a month. I can Saddle him. Ride him in just a halter(that's what she starts them in so that they respond well with just voice and then goes to a snaffle when the go up to the stables) working with his feet right now. And im getting closer to being able to pet his ears.. He is reallly head shy. I can't tie him up because the pressure behind his ears with the halter causes him to freak out, that's how head shy he is. I' working on it. Ill tie him for 2 minutes then more and more as the days go on. He is doing such a good job:) Im going to work today. So I will try to get some pictures of him up. He is a paint( sure he is just grade though.) with a Bald face, 2 blue eyes, and his coloring is bay and white with black as well:P
