    Smile my journey with Blue:)

I got a job working with green broke horse at the end of may and have been done with 2 of the less green horses so far. One specifically is taking a bit longer, Blue, but he is going to be a great horse! He is going to be a dude-string horse and has the Perfect attitude for it. All that dude string horses do is walk and trot to catch up to horses in front of them so its pretty much the perfect job for Blue as he is a follower not a leader. He is a little spooky still and I am working with a blanket sheet(for a house bed lol) and letting him walk and trot over it. He is doing great with that.
I am also, walking him around in the round pen and dragging the sheet around on the ground so that he can get used to stuff being dragged behind him in case someones jacket or something like drags.. who knows lol..
When I first starting to work here. Blue had a halter on because he was so hard to catch. He was in a pen. A HUGE pen with other horses with hay and all the things that he needed.. He has a wonderful owner and everything that he needs he gets. (vet, feet ect,.) I was working with Thunder a haflinger gelding at that time because he had an attitude... and you can't put kids on a pony that doesn't listen. NOW, Thunder is one of my BO good kid horses I believe:)/ and Blue was my next project. She new that it would take me a while to get a connection with Blue because he was really shy and didn't want to be caught. Not because he didn't want to work, it was more like a fear of being hurt or something. I'm not sure of his past before my BO.
Since working with Blue for maybe a month. I can Saddle him. Ride him in just a halter(that's what she starts them in so that they respond well with just voice and then goes to a snaffle when the go up to the stables) working with his feet right now. And im getting closer to being able to pet his ears.. He is reallly head shy. I can't tie him up because the pressure behind his ears with the halter causes him to freak out, that's how head shy he is. I' working on it. Ill tie him for 2 minutes then more and more as the days go on. He is doing such a good job:) Im going to work today. So I will try to get some pictures of him up. He is a paint( sure he is just grade though.) with a Bald face, 2 blue eyes, and his coloring is bay and white with black as well:P

Well, I went to work really early yesterday morning when it was cool out to work with Blue.. I guess I spoke to soon when I said that he is now easy to catch.. BOY it took my an hour to catch him. I could go up to him and rub him all over but when I put the halter on his nose he would back up and run away.. and I can't put a rope around his nect because I'm working with that not freaking him out.. for some reason he thinks he is trapped when he has some pressure on his neck and head area.. so what I did to finally catch him, instead of putting me arm above his neck I put it under and said WHOAHH and he let me put it right on.. crazy horse.. so after an hour of trying to catch him... no problems.. went for a little ride around the farm in just a halter and a saddle and he did good.. I didn't ride him that hard or long because of the heat but a little bit of work goes a long way with him IMO.:]

I rode Blue yesterday. We are getting realllly good! He used to have a harder time with me clipping the reins on the left side of his halter.. and now I can do it with no problem.. I can SLOWLY toss the reins over his head.. before it was a struggle because he was so head shy. I can also, lightly touch his ears:) WHICH IS WONDERFUL. My boss said she thinks it's time to do some light trail riding on him with a CONFIDENT horse. Which I agree with as well. I have just been doing a bunch of work in the round pen with sheets on the ground and making him lunge over them and what not! Im getting so excited with his progress.. Here are some Photos of him:)

URG the thing keeps logging me out when I click UPLOAD! So here I downloaded some on Photobucket..

WOW.. I let his die... So school started and fall has come around.. I think. I don't ride Blue for a job anymore.. My boss says he is A OKAY for nexr summer.. to go start his job:).. that makes me proud proud proud. Last time I rode him.

    I could

    Saddle him standing still
    TOUCH HIS EARS!
Throw the reins.. softly over his head
Get on with no movement.. and trot him with the moochy noise.
He was getting good on his neck reining.
I will probably work with him with that for a while.. because I think that is important to know.

Im really happy that I actually finished( to the point my boss needed) a horse. I bet that means next summer she will let me work with another horse:) which means.. more money in my pocket:) AND more experience for when Camo's breaking in comes around:P

    THANKS for reading:P
