So Here is where im starting my journal. Since I have two horses I decided this will be for both of them! So I guess as a start I can tell you about the two.
ROMEO-
7y.o Appendix? Gelding
I bought Romeo as my first horse. I dont know what I was thinking at the time...I think it went something along the lines of "zomg my rents are letting me buy a poneh!!! I needz one asap or de may change der mindz!!!" Anyway...I ended up with an unnamed Dark black bay gelding who knew nothing more then how to stand still, be tacked up, mounted, go, and barely stop. This was at age 5.
Ive been through two long years of learning curves with this boy. I was as much of a flaming idiot knuckle head as he was. BUT I did learn...I figured out the best way to train him...invented some of my own training techniques and now Im proud to say he makes a solid trail mount and a five year old can ride him LOL
Dont get me wrong...Ive only just now got my act together and im filling in the training gaps I created lol. I did teach him to stop proper, neck rein, collect, and we preformed a successful join up early on which only made a world of difference lol He has flawless ground manners and is submissive in a roundpen ex: it takes about three circles each direction before he is licking his lips and giving to you lol he also has a basic understanding of leg cues.
As for what he needs to learn...its just stuff to make him even better... More work on leg cues...side passing would be nice...maybe some reining work and tricks just for the heck of improvement lol
Now it may seem like i just made him out to be an angel...there is the error lol he is just like me...stubborn an hard headed...not to mention easily confussed. Once he learns something he never has another issue...its the initial learning process he fights. Ex: He learned how to enck rein litterally in 4 days...knew what i wanted and responded. He just didnt like it cause he didnt see a point in it...so it to another two months of constant use and fighting him before he just accepted it an moved on lol.
So thats my Boy...Now for my girl...
BAUSE-
10 y.o Arabian Mare
Ah my dear Bause. If a more problematic horse existed please let me know. Bause was owned (and still lives with) My ex-boss Danielle or Danie for short. Danie's husband Mike was suppose to be her owner but it didnt work out that way. Mike broke his back and she has been Danies problem ever since. Not anymore!
It all started when Danie accidentally over dosed Bause on bute. Bause had taken down 40 foot of fencing during a storm and had cut her leg badly on a T-post. Paniced Danie called Keith (my boyfriend) who has been doing work for her and me. I had been working for her also and she had noticed that Bause seemed fairly fond of me so she figured maybe I could help in the situation.
Bause who is absolutely in love with her grain was refusing to eat any grain. Danie had already run out and bought some ulcer guard since thats what her vet recommended. She had fought and given Bause the dose but was worried. While keith called another vet for a second opinion I walked into the stall and started patting and rubbing on Bause. It seemed to make her feel better so I went back and asked danie for her grain an said I was gonna try to feed her. Danie said she didnt think bause would take it but she was to be surprised. Bause stood there and nibbled her entire share of grain out of my hand and felt better within a few hours.
Since then Im the only one who seems to be able to handle Bause without a disaster occuring. First I rode her in the round pen to see if she was entirely sound after her fence accident. She is btw. then I got to take her on a 9 mile trail ride. she was an angel....something danie had never seen. And most recently we had an incident.

Thats the detailed story but in a nutshell she had a fit but ended up getting her butt whooped and behaving for the 4 mile ride we made.
For a bit more info on some of her issues here is the link to another thread:

Also as to not confuse anyone who checked out the link above...the deal at the ranch didnt go down...so Danie is holding onto Bause for me until I have a good place lol
As for her training she has the most amazing Round pen work ive seen in a while and she does not buck...she just bolts and rears...joy... she has amazing collection...more english like with the higher head set an all...not western like my gelding...but either way she is amazingly collected. she will back and neck rein an spin...when she wants to. Her biggest training flaw...Absolutely no ground manners...she fidgets when tied and prances and jerks around when lead and is just downright disrespectful of everyone (not me for long) if she doesnt want to do it...she wont do it...and she is spooky as heck...she also has some issues with trailers since she was in a wreck before, she rides fine but has to be the first one out and last one in and she litterally takes a flying leap and jumps the ramp almost bowling you over when you take her in or out...or so ive heard...she has yet to do this with me...ive felt her tense like she would but a slight jerk on her lead and a firm no and she doesnt even try lol...so she is a "project horse" in a way. I dont like the term but it fits her...lol
Now for a small bit of info on myself...
PAIGE-
17y.o Blonde American
Im short at barely 5'4 so i look like an ant on my arab and my gelding is on the lighter side so he makes me look chucnky when i ride him. I currently am riding and doing some basic work with a show horse at a ranch near me. I also sorta have a free riding instructor there. Richard is my buddy at work and he rides and trains a bunch of show horses and he helps train me. He says I am wonderful rider but I just need some polishing which he is doing. such a nice guy.
Ive got a good seat about me and I aim to be soft handed. I have a temper at times...as my friends say its my german coming out...they discovered that when Bause threw a fit last cause I had about a five min cursing streak that even got Bause's attention. Not my finest moment lol.
Past that there aint much to know about me...Im educated enough to rasp an clean up my horses feet between trims and I wanna go to school and learn to be a horse dentist as well as get vet tech certified (got a vet friend who has all the study material and knows how to get me tested an certified lol)
So yea...there I am in a nut shell...Im smart an know alot but need to know alot more lol
And there is my novel of a first entery...I plan to post both my horses progress here and hopefully keep yall entertained while im at it! Thanks for reading!
