Shimmering Crystal <3

I have been having a HUGE problem with motivating myself to ride, so I am hoping that by journaling here about it I will be more motivated. Just a little back story, I am a mostly self taught rider. I just started taking lessons a couple of months ago. My first horse passed away from colic when I was 14 and then I bought a crazy TB. I still have her, she's my old lady :) She taught me a lot about horses, but I think she scared me as well. We had some rough times. Call me crazy, but about a month and a half ago I went out and adopted an OTTB named Shimmering Crystal. She's beautiful, and smart, and stubborn as hell lol. (The picture of the two of us was the day she walked off the trailer.)

Since then, we have worked with a trainer four times, and we've been doing fairly well. She has no concept of bending, rhythm, or well work in general. She fights me tooth and nail if I try to lunge her to the right, and she HATES trotting over a pole.

I took her to an Extreme Trail Challenge a couple weeks ago and I have to say, she did amazing. I didn't ride her, but she took all of the obstacles and didn't complain about them at all.

I'll post some more pics as I play with her, and you all can see how far we are coming (and hopefully give us some encouragement lol).

The pic of me riding her was from my lesson on the 25th.

You certainly look lovely on her! Keep riding girly; the fighting will lessen and lessen.

Thanks for the encouragement!! I actually took her about an hour away this morning and we went on a 5 mile trail ride. I was so proud of her!! She only spooked once, and the rest of the way she did great. The only thing that bothered me was when we were walking and she kept lifting her head and twisting it. I don't know what to make of it, lol.

So we had a pretty horrible lesson today :( My best friend got on her and she was fine, but I just couldn't get it together today. I don't know what is wrong with me. She's trying so hard to understand I just can't get her there. I've never had a problem riding any horse. Why is it so hard with my own?

I'm the one in the pink shirt, my friend the teal.

In the picture she looks to be fighting the bit (of the neck twisting)

In your recent picture, you're pulling back on the reins, why?

You'll figure it out :)
