My trainer just did some ground work with her. She likes workign with her because she's smart and eager to please. She picks up things so quickly. She also walked off from the farrier yesterday when my daughter showed up. Right out of the stand. Knocked stuff over, spilled the nails, didn't care. Brat. Twist would make a beautiful English horse because she moves very nicely, but dd doesn't want to show her in English right now. We'll see.

That's cute about Twist trying to walk off with your daughter! They are clearly connecting. Our horse is very much like that. She will follow my daughter everywhere. Whenever my anyone else rides Lily the biggest challenge is keeping her away from "her girl"! How'd your trainer like riding Twist?

Your daughter is obviously a good rider and I'm sure by July she will have no problems in a lope class. If she doesn't place well no worries, she'll have some great goals to work on over next winter. My daughter wants to do a western class this summer and our horse is NOT a western mover. Fortunately, dd doesn't care how she places she just wants to show in more classes!

She's doing very well. She's a smart horse--we totally lucked out! Our first "show" is in July. Since the county only has an outdoor arena, we plan them later in the summer so we're more likely to have sun. We start weekly club rides in about 3 weeks so we'll be getting her out. Yesterday our trainer took her from my daughter and to show her something and Twist tried to walk off with my daughter. They're starting to get bonded. I think this is going to work out. We were going to try to do walk/trot again, but if she does, she can't get 1st or 2nd because she did it with a different horse last year. I think she's going to try for the lope class, even if the horse is a little fast. We'll see.

How is the new horse? When is your first show? I'm guessing you will be working with the horse a few months before showing her. We are getting ready for our first 4-H show of the year on the weekend of the 28th. We are so not ready, but oh well. We have never shown at the Spring show because we're never ready however my daughter really wants to this year and at $6/class why not? Does Skagit 4-H have County shows?

I think you found the perfect horse. Your daughter can train and teach her and they will be a great team. Enjoy!

Twist acts like she's been there for years. She's so easy going. My daughter has had 4 rides in 4 days on her, each getting better. She's loping her a lot more each day, and instead of just riding, she's starting to work on things now. I rode her today too. A little rough for my taste, and super sensative, but she's doing very well for my daughter. She's beautiful, and making a lot of friends at the barn. Everyone loves cleaning her stall because she's super tidy. Another lesson tomorrow.

How is Twist settling in? I bet your daughter can't get to the barn fast enough these days!

She does allow the kids to use/haul in their own horse. If the horse stays, you have to provide feed and the kid cleans the stall once a day. WE GOT HER!!!!!!!!

Can you bring your own horse to the camps and if so, is board included? We are in Edmonds and couldn't make the commute daily with our horse. That was one reason I was thinking of the clinic, plus it really looks like fun.
