CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!! That's great! You finally found your horse. I'm so happy for you and your daughter!! Now the real fun begins watching the two of them grow together and bond. Enjoy!!!

Can you bring your own horse to the camps and if so, is board included? We are in Edmonds and couldn't make the commute daily with our horse. That was one reason I was thinking of the clinic, plus it really looks like fun.

One thing I keep forgetting to ask you is about the farm where you keep your horse. When you told me about it (my friend needed some training done and you recommended it) I went to their website and they had something on there about a trail course clinic. Do you know anything about it and if they are doing it again this year? It looked really fun! I know my daughter would love to do it and it would be good to get her out doing something other than shows.

Hahaha! When you said you were hoping to get her Thursday I thought you meant that YOU were finally getting to ride her! I'm feeling like a bit of a dork! What a great seller. At least you know she's coming from a good home and they will know she's going to a good home. That is important. Well, Friday is only 2 days away! The hunt is just about over and your daughter will have her horse! Please let me know or post when it is final because I want to congratulate you (not going to jinx anything by doing it too soon). Pictures are good too!

Alright, I'm confused (what else is new). Do you have the mare on trial or are you taking lessons with her at another barn?

Nothing wrong with walk-trot, especially with a new horse. I think it's a good starting point. My daughter was walk-trot until last fall and she had to move up because she had the max. blue danishes allowed. Personally, I think I'd prefer a horse with no show experience over a finished horse for my daughter - especially for the long run. They will learn so much together! Also, most of the kids I've seen that ride the push button/"been there done that" horses don't learn to RIDE very well. We've had a couple of 4-H kids that have won plenty of classes ride Lily and their lack of ability really shows. Lily is a horse that you really need to ride and then she goes beautifully, but if you can't really ride it shows with her.

Sounds like she is off on a new adventure! I don't really know anything about this mare other than what you posted but it sounds like your daughter can do some fun things with her. Has she ever been shown? Either way it will be a good summer for your daughter to be showing her very own horse. Maybe we'll see you at the Stanwood/Camano fair! That would be fun!

Wow, that's great your daughter gets to ride so much. Sounds like the horse is still going well for her. She'll have a good feel for that horse before show season and that will be helpful. I read in another post that she had a few "new horse jitters" and I bet those will be gone very soon. It's got to be tough after a few bad experiences with trial horses to let down your guard. Will she be riding her lease horse as well as this horse after you buy her?

Enjoy the ride today! Is she having a lesson or just riding and getting to know her mare? Hopefully my daughter will be riding this afternoon as well. We don't have our spring break until next week but she gets out of school at noon today so if it's not raining too hard she'll be riding. You are so lucky to have a covered arena!
