She really is a cute mare and I noticed how similar it was to the horse in your avatar. I bet you and your daughter will have lots of fun with her in the years to come! I'm glad you didn't let the mare part scare you. I was talking with my friend whose daughter shows in 4-H (also the same one who was looking for a trainer recently) and she talked us into showing at the Stanwood-Camano fair the first weekend in August, maybe we'll see you?

From the sounds of the news the roads should be good by Sat.. Are you towing? If so, good for you! I'm still learning and it terrifies me just to tow an empty trailer! I know Anna wants to show more this summer and my family won't want to go to every show so I need to learn how to tow. I am so glad you found a horse to trial! Is your daughter even able to sleep? Having a daughter myself I can only imagine how excited she (and you) must be. What did your daughter think of the mare in comparison to the others she has seen?

I was out driving last night because my neighbor slipped and fell and broke her arm so I took her to the hospital around 10:00. The roads near our house are a thick sheet of glaring ice but I-5 was bare and wet. The new forecast is now 2-4" instead of 6-10". I haven't told my kids yet.

How much snow do you have up there? Here in Edmonds we only have about 3" total so far.

That sucks. I know when we were shopping for a horse I soon learned how flaky, inconsiderate and dishonest people were. Well, I'm sure that there is a better horse out there and you will find it! I hope your daughter wasn't too disappointed.

Hey there! I saw that ad on Craigslist (not shopping, just wasting time) and thought about you. Glad you are going to go look, he sounds like what you are looking for and a horse your daughter can still grow with and train. Please keep me posted if you don't post on the forum. Happy horse shopping and good luck!

I guess you just have to see what she is like when she goes into heat. Like I said, if our mare is on Mare Magic we don't worry if she goes in heat at shows. She might be a bit distracted but it's nothing Anna can't handle. If the mare is finished then she she knows the drill at shows so it won't be a totally different situation. Lily hasn't been shown tons but she is getting more mellow with each show we go to.

The mare sounds worth looking at. Keep me posted and good luck!

Well, we have a mare and she does get pretty unpleasant a couple of days a month if she isn't on mare magic. We take her off this time of year and last night it showed. My daughter went to take her out of the paddock and "put her to bed" and the minute the gate was open Lily bolted and ran right into the barn and straight to her stall! Usually Anna will open the gate and Lily doesn't take a step until her halter is on and Anna gives her the ok to go. We were really surprised but then we saw Lily "winking" we realized that she was indeed in season. Back on the Mare Magic tonight! The stuff works really well with our horse so her mareish behavior is easily controlled. Other than that I wouldn't be too concerned about a mare, I'd own another one in a heartbeat. She is very in-tune with her handler and wants to please. What did the owner say about this mare for that type of thing?

How goes the horse hunt? Did you go and look at the mare near you?
