Sorry it has been awhile. Finally things are back to normal, I hope!! My husband collapsed for 6th time, only this time I thought I would lose him. After rushing him off to hospital & doing all the tests under the sun they have finally realised that it could be the tablets that is causing his heart to stop. I hope they are right!!!! I have also have some photos of my saddle but I cant download onto this site. Do you have another email address?? I nearly forgot I hope you are safe from the earth quake. I fill so sadden for all those people. I hope you all have Merry Christmas & a happy & safe New Year.

I still feel a bit guilty spending that amount of money on a saddle but Im trying to convince myself I have done the right thing, & the curtains can wait.

I would love to send some photos of Scooter with his saddle but Im not sure if Horse Forum will let me but Ill try later when he has lost his winter coat.

Its true Steph, the stress & money about importing a saddle that I haven’t sat on only to find that Scooter or I not like was too much for me. This custom saddle pad sound wonderful & I sure it will solve any problems.Let me know how the saddle pad goes on

Stage 3

As for me well it’s like riding bareback, you can feel the movement of the horse from under me. At first I was very weary & I must admit I even thought I might have made a terrible mistake, but after several minutes I leant to relax.
I’m going up to saddlery tomorrow & buy 24” cinch as the 26” is still a little too big.
It too early to tell but there is not a thing I can pick which is wrong with the saddle, & I must admit I just love this saddle, I feel secure, little weight & beautifully made.

Stage 2.

This saddle is hand made in Germany & comes with adjustable pommel, which will fit a standardbred horse or draft horse. Seat adjust between 16” – 18”, has two stirrup hooks & the most important thing is it has adjustable panels attach with velco, so there is no need for a special saddle pad.

The saddle arrived on Monday this week & I was excited about saddling up Scooter & going on a ride, only to find out that all my cinches where too big from 32” to 36”.
I then had to go around & ask my friends if they have 26” cinch. After a number of phone calls I found 26” cinch I could borrow, finally Scooter & I was able to go on that ride two days later.

Boy!! What a ride, Scooter walked out along the trail without any problems, he evan seemed to love the ride. When I asked him do something like jump a creek he did without putting on a dance.

Anyway guess what!! I have found my saddle YES that right. Well I hope I’m right.
After many hours & emails to trail riders & Endurance riders here in Australia & overseas, I came across this saddle called “Trekker Pro endurance classic saddle”.
I have it on load for 7 days, from a woman in Canberra & if I or Scooter don’t like it I would get my money back in full.
The cost $1350.00 which is a lot of money that I didn’t want to spend on a saddle but as my husband said you cant take it with you, it alright for him to say as I was saving the money to buy new curtain for the lounge room.

Just thought Id let you know that I have decided to try & buy a saddle hear in Australia.

There is a big equatana show in Sydney in November which I think Ill go to.
I just can not go through this any more, my stomach in a knot.

I just want to thank you for all that you have done, word can not express but if ever I can do or get something for you, just let me know.

I just receive an email from buytack "I'm sorry but because of the size restrictions the postal service places on boxes shipping into Australia and the high cost of shipping UPS we cannot ship a saddle to your country."
My heart just sunk.

Im not sure by what you mean buy phoning an operator to talk you through the buying process. Where did you get the phone number from.
Im still not sure about the correct gullet size for my horse evan though I have taking a templete.
I want to make sure I have done every thing correct.
I haven't given up.
I think this is going to be a long process.

Thanks again for the info. you have been giving me.

The reason why I said Abetta saddles don’t have a swinging fender is I read in Horse Forum a person with Abetta Arab Saddle complained the fender restricted her leg movement.
I also been looking at buytack.com & have to day email them & ask if they still export to Australia.
You are wright about been nerve wracking, I’m almost sick to the stomach & it doesn’t help when my husband said negative questions like “what happens if you don’t like it & is uncomfortable” or “Isn't there Abetta saddle in Australia to try out the saddle, it's a lot of money”.
I think I will have to just bit the bullet & go for it.
I have pick 3 saddles that I like all trail saddles.
1/ Abetta Sport Saddle 2/ Nylon Saddle 3/ Trailblazer Saddle
I let you know in a few weeks how I went.

Thanks for spending the time in giving me the information.

The reason why I’m after another saddle not only because the saddle is old but I have noticed lately when riding in the mountains the saddle is slipping quite a bit going down steep trails, even with the girth pretty tight, which is unfair to my horse. I know he has gained some weight over winter & I use a thick Navajo Saddle Pad with Fleece Bottom under the saddle but I think its time to buy a new saddle.

After what you said I have decided on Abetta Saddle from US.

There is just a couple of things I have to look into more. One is they don’t have a swinging fender & I read that the gullet has very little wither clearance. Ill ask who ever I buy the saddle from is it true.

Can I ask where did you buy your saddle from & how did you get the saddlers measurements for your saddle?

I noticed you said you bought Abetta Saddle from USA.
Im am looking into buying Abetta saddle too & I was wondering if you still have the saddle & if so what do you think of it.

I live in Australia on a property on the south coast.
I am with a trail riding club & my horse which is a Standardbred horse 15.2hh that I trained to a saddle.
The western saddle that Im using at the moment is old & that is why Im looking to buy Abetta saddle.
