I have a new mare that I purchased only a month ago who is scratching herself so much on trees and anything else she can find, that each day I'm finding new places on her where she has rubbed the hair off down to the skin. I plan to call the vet to come see what's causing the itching, but would appreciate any input from here. Apparently what I thought were nicks on her from other horses in the pasture where she was when I bought her are actually places she has rubbed herself raw. I am applying NuStock every few days, but just when one place starts looking good, she has a new place on her. Never had this problem with any horse before!
