    I went barefoot last year, and haven't looked back. Genetics plays a big part in the hooves, but so do the shoes. Just having shoes on can thin the hoof walls. If you are in eastern PA, I would recommend Dawn Willoughby. She trims by the Pete Ramey method. www.4sweetfeet.com She is teaching me to trim my own horses.
