I haven't been able to ride Romeo for a while now because the barn he is at has no indoor and the outdoor is nice and icey! He's getting fat! I miss riding him, but hopefully this ice will melt and dry up soon so I can work with him again. We were doing so well.... I'm just working with Nikki at this point while Shasta is living the retirement dream!

Oh no so its not time to get rid of the training fork yet huh? I believe your coach that it will take a long time. Once they start a bad habit it seems to take forever to break it!

So Maverick isn't a trail horse either? Well hopefully you can get him and Sunny to bond closely enough that they can "support" eachother on a trail. Shasta is NOT a trail horse but as long as she has one of her buddies with her on a trail she does perfectly fine! You just need one brave horse! Not to mention I'm sure he is still getting used to the good life! =)

Haha! Well I'm sure he just needs some time to get used to his new life! I hope he stops acting like a celebrity soon that can be really annoying.

That's great news about Sunny's improvement! How's his head coming along? Has he started to relax at all?

Aww poor Sunny! Hopefully he figures out that you won't abandon him for maverick! Did they take that tb out of your turnout?

Yes I finally got back into the saddle today. Had a great ride actuallly! Had to do a lotof groundwork first but if thats what is needed thats fine by me! It was really warm here today so it was hard to leave the barn.

Oh they look so cute together! Congrats again! You guys are going to have so much fun. Glad he likes the snow! Is he already trained or will you hubby have to start training him?

Oh ok the training fork makes sense now. I was picturing something with the bit and couldn't quite figure it out!

Me too! I find the bits so confusing. And why so many to choose What my coach is trying to so is re-train him so that a snaffle bit will do when we are out on the trail. I training fork is kind of like a running martingale but without the part that goes around the neck. The fork attaches to the saddle cinch and then you put your reins thru the rings. He trots with his head high so this helps with rounding out his neck. We're working his muscles as he was ridden wrong for so long.

I ride western. Mainly trail riding but with our new horse I could learn western pleasure show. And he has arrived...yippeee. He's wonderful. I will put up a new avatar pic of my boys together. The first meeting went well. He rolled in the snow twice. lol. He loved it. Where he's been at the past few years there's no turn out so he's going to be in heaven.

For Romeo we use a French link snaffle and Shasta has a copper loose ring snaffle. Not sure what is on Nikki's bridle. I need to get better about understanding bits I always default to whatever my trainer uses and haven't taken the time to really understand the options. What is a training fork? I ride English. How about you?

Oh what a good boy that he listened to you! What a good feeling it is when they care about your opinions right!?

Well I hope that mavericks trip went well and that he is settleing in to the cold weather!!

Oh no, really? We got more snow here too! What gives? Well bummer that you can't get him home until tomorrow. Better to be on the safe side though!

Glad to hear that Sunny is coming along. Sounds like you will be ready for the trails in no time! Perhaps spring? Just curious, what bits are you trying?

Hi Cher! Yes we are back at home now. Came home to piles of snow and a 4 ft drift on our deck! At least we got out of it for a little while. Tomorrow is the big day huh!? How exciting! How is sunny's training coming along? I'm taking the day off from riding today i have too many things to take care of from being gone for the week!

I haven't met Lloyd yet but we really haven't done any shopping! It's been excursions or the beach every day which has been wonderful! I still haven't done everything I wanted to do so I guess we will just have to come back! We are staying at the veranda which is right next to beaches. I don't think we looked at villa Renaissance we will have to look At that next time. We are leaving tomorrow =(. Not ready for the cold yet!

That's too bad that you can't bring maverick home until Monday. I wonder what sunny will think of the new edition?
