I just read about the horse auction you went to and I feel the same way. I'm over in AR and the horses here are meeting the same fate. I used to go sell goats, chickens, etc and now I'm done. You are 100% right about not keeping the old going and the terminally ill horses around when we could at least donate money to rescues or take on a sound horse that deserves to live. The other day a woman I knew called me frantically begging me to adopt her mare. She had a terrible case of ringbone, super gentle & broke, but unfit to ride much and she was sending her to the sale if I didn't take her. I cried till I couldn't see straight, but decided not too and get a horse that had a longer life ahead of him who was in need and in the same scenario. It's hard to say it, but it's true, thanks for putting it out there.
