I have a 30 + year old pony that has had several episodes of acting like he was on the way out. I just kept on trying and he got better. I have to separate him out to feed him, but he is doing great....

Oh... Wow. My suggestion is to call a professional.. They may be able to smooth some out... Or let it grow for as long as possible, then get a pro out to clip/clean up a few days before the show....
