- I actually just use it on his tail. His mane has a different texture, so something different works better on it. If it's super dry, I'll rub some oil into his mane, and then it's good again for awhile.
But for his tail, I usually coat it on really well, make sure it goes over his tail evenly, braid it, and go for a ride. I'll take it out after the ride, and brush it out well, then by then it's dry and soft, so I'll just turn him back out.
Actually, for the winter time, the olive oil cream I use, maintains it well throughout the winter. I'm able to just do the coconut about twice a week or so. It certainly benefits the tail more, when I use the coconut oil more, and more often, but I just don't have the time to work the oil to liquid, and rub it in well. I prefer it in the summer, when it's a thin liquid all the time, and I can just squirt it into my palm, and really spread it in well.
Thanks, though. My mix of stuff has kept it nice through the winter. - Do you rub it into the mane really good? Usually, i rub it in really good. The temp. has been in the 50's here and if I keep rubbing it until I don't see any of it. His mane is so thick it just absorbs it up. I do just a little section at a time and rub it in my hands and then rub it through his hair. I keep rubbing that section until it completely disolves in.
At first, I was having the same trouble you are having but I started doing a smaller section and completely rub it in before going to the next section. I don't know if it was because his hair is so dry that it soaked it up or because I used just a little at a time of the CO.
I hope this helps you. I really like how it is helping my horses mane and tail. - Do you rub it into the mane really good? Usually, i rub it in really good.
