To answer the question . 1.No 2.Most farriers develop a feel for knowing what the vertical depth is in MOST feet. This comes from continuing education and touching a lot of horses.

What they are trying to tell you is that the foot needs @ 2 inches of dead horn/hoof trimmed off just to start with. :wink:

A lot more goes into the price of that service besides labor and supplies. Farrier's do not have a company providing insurance, vehicle maintenance, or medical coverage. And let's not forget...

It would be cruel for me NOT to put shoes on my horses. We have to travel gravel a lot! Oh and just wondering if I wore one shoe and one barefoot what my circulation would look like, lol. :lol:

My farrier does hot shoes. My horse is shod on all 4s with clips and heel extensions on the shoes and what else I don't know haha but he is sound sound sound and my farrier has done wonders keeping...
