Oh, that is awful! I haven't seen any updates & was wondering how it was going. Are you doing any bonding or ground work w/him at this point? That Stormy horse that Anita had the video of sure seemed nice. Maybe you could start a new thread so some of the nay-sayers might not follow? I'd start a thread if I could, but mine have never shown up on the forum boards.
Hi, Did you go see Mission today? What are you thinking about him? Give it more time? Some lessons? Get a different horse? Take lessons on a SchoolMaster? There are lots of ways to approach it,but you not getting hurt is a top priorty. I've had gaited horses of many different breeds over the years & I like their "forwardness", but I always make sure I can stop them, too-I just hate runaways. Anyway, I love talking horses & if you want a sounding board-I'm avalible. And yes, I've felt afraid sometimes on horseback so I know about that, too.
I just re-read your post on Mission. You started out w/such high hopes & now you sound so down. I have had horses since I was a teen-ager & gaited horses since the '80's. I've had a few stallions, done some showing, raised a few foals. I don't claim to be able to solve every problem, but I've worked through a lot of things for different horses/riders. I'm in my 60's & much more cautious than I used to be. I'm recently retired, very new to AZ (after being at my last place in CA for 34 years) & would like to see you have a good time w/Mission.
