It's really tough to offer advice when there's only a little snap shot of the whole picture so I try to look a little deeper before I start spouting off gems of idiocy. LOL It doesn't sound to me like you're in danger of creating a monster at all. The fact that you realized the potential goes a long way toward demonstrating that. The other thing that speaks very well of you, is that you didn't have any problem with your ego getting in the way of good judgment. You've got a good foundation, your horse will too!
