I have worked a lot of cows on big horses. The only problem is after 8 to 10 hour in the saddle that tall horse is hard to get off of the get a gate and get back on again.

A bit is only ever as harsh as the riders hands. I can inflict more damage rough handling a soft snaffle then I could soft handling a twisted wire bit. You don't know WHY it may be used. And...

We have a mare out here who rides in a single twisted wire bit. I don't ride her often at all, but I've put a regular snaffle on her and rode her and she was extremely strung-out and totally ignoring...

I would guess most inexperienced people would be just as afraid of it as the people that have posted thus far in the thread. If used properly there is no reason that this bit has to cause anymore...

I'm for humane slaughter with regulations. There's too many horses and, god forbid, if any horse of mine somehow ends up slaughter bound, it can at least be headed to a close by US slaughter...

I am pro humane slaughter as it is the best possible end to suffering from over breeding/neglect etc... That said, I am NOT for hauling horses out of the country as the trip itself is cruel...

I am very much for humane slaughter. A pretty unpopular opinion...but banning slaughter ruined a lot of the horse economy. I believe it should be legal with regulations. Horses WILL be slaughtered...

Of course a horse CAN carry more than 20% of its ideal bodyweight. Whether it SHOULD is another matter entirely. The one off examples you give are fine, as they are one offs. But I doubt you would...
