    Pat1960, I was exactly were you are at the beginning of this year. I bought my first horse last November. All was well at first, but by January, my horse started bucking. I was getting really hurt....

    I think he said 'erm no thanks' to a novice rider and preferred to hang out at the barn. Is there any way to make the riding area secure for future so he is not loose on the road?

    I don't think a "deep bond" will help the situation much, he just needs consistent work which should either get rid of this problem, or further reveal it. Even if you don't ride everyday, take him...
