- Thank you for the note. I am sorry if I sounded condemning in my post about the bareback pad. I am glad you aren't going to use it. I have never seen the use for bareback pads in general. If I want to ride bareback I just give my pants a washing afterwards.
As far as my methods for training colts. I can do a lot of ground work, I can put the first ten or so rides on, then I'm not sure where to go. I am currently preparing to head out to BC for an internship working with Akhal-Teke horses. I am really looking forward to learning more about training.
If you do have questions about ground work or the initial breaking I'll try to help you in any way I can.
I usually take my time and will take around a month to actually put the first ride on. I prefer taking a yearling and training from there. Then I have at least a year before I have to ride.
