He's doing well. He had a hard time the first time in the indoor arena, but we did 2 sessions of groundwork in their yesterday and now acts like he's been there his whole life. He's starting to bond with my daughter now and is using her for comfort. He reminds us in personality of Romeo a lot. He's kind of needy and needs a lot of reassurance, but once he feels okay, everything is fine.

No horse yet...just the super pony she's leasing. He's not disappointing at all. We're going to look at 2 geldings today in Arlington. We shall see.

We're going to try a different mare out tomorrow and Wednesday. She's very well bred, and 18 months ago was for sale for $15,000, but she was injured in a fence incident and her price has gone WAY down. She's a little younger than I wanted, but really well trained, has a little show experience, and is stunning. The shopping sucks, but once the shopping is done, I'm excited to see what we end up with.

I told the lady the horse wouldn't pass vet check because of her limp so she said to bring her back. I would have been happy to work with her to find out what was up, but nope, she wanted her back.

That paint on Craig's List is one I looked at and she didn't get back to me. I could call her back, but that horse was hyper sensitive and a little too touchy. I'm going to look at one real close here in a bit. No rest for the weary.

Well, I'm taking her back tomorrow :( The owner asked me to go ahead and bring her back and she says she'll get her vetted. I'm bummed, and so is my daughter. Horse search continues.

She's pretty good. She's had her feet fixed and they look much better. She's so out of shape that she's a little off, but she seems to work out of it so we're thinking it's from not being worked much. I'm going to go ride her today. They loped yesterday and it went pretty well. She's a very smart horse. If she can get over being off, I think she's a keeper.

I'm okay that this is her horse. I have my favorite horse at the barn anyway, and he is finally sound after 13 weeks of not being ridden. I got to ride him yesterday and it felt so good. Once this mare and my daughter figure each other out, they'll be fine. There wasn't a moment where I was concerned, it's just obvious that she was testing her boundaries with my daughter, who is totally capable of putting her in her place. Last night they made great strides.

I haven't done squat with her. My daughter has done it all. She did a bunch of ground work today, and then rode. They have to work out a couple of issues, mostly the horse not believing that someone so small had any control, but by the end of her lesson today it was a different story. It's going to take a few lessons to establish their pecking order, but the horse sure knows her stuff.

So, the person who is most excited is my husband! But yes, my daughter is very excited to actually get to ride her. We'll see how today's ride goes. Temperment wise she's a winner.

She's here! She took about an hour to settle in and she's quite good in her stall. It's insanely windy here so my daughter hasn't ridden her yet, but she's been doing a lot of groundwork, showmanship, and getting her used to the arena. She sure doesn't mind anything. The wind today is out of this world, shaking the house strong, and she didn't seem to care. She reacts by lifting her head and getting big eyes. She needs her feet done badly, so that's Thursday, and I have Friday off so she'll be going to the vet for a pre-purchase exam. If those are reasonable reports, I think she's staying. We have 3-4 lessons scheduled this week and that many next week. We want to make the most out of our trial. She's beautiful too. And super duper sweet.
