The horse I see in the video really reminds me of my mare and I am sure you guys will work it out. Another think I love about the breed is that they have really good and strong feed, are fairly easy keepers and are super fast learners! I keep my mare 24/7 outside (with shelters) in a herd of 7 and she has unlimited access to foot and she does awesome, she was kept mostly in a stall when I got her and first she was really confused about all the space and freedom but I think it was what she needed. I handled lots of them (Oldenbourg) back in Germany and missed it so much here in Canada (I have 6 other horses, mostly QHs) and I needed to get myself a warmblood again as the work with them gives me so much. I think it is great that your horse is not actually well trained yet, together you will learn sooo much more. I wish you best of luck and hope you guys will end up making a great match like I and my mare! Congrats on such a gorgeous horse and lots of success :0)

Hi there, I have ridden lots of Oldenbourgers (?), hope that is how you say it in english, back in Germany. They are awesome horses. Not too high strong and energetic but give you everything with the right training and they are (together with the westphalians) my favourite german warmblood breed. Do you already know what you are planning on doing with the horse? My horse "Kali" the one you see in my avatar, she was sooo bad and crazy when I got her, she had trust issues and was sour all over her body from cramping up and not getting handled the right way.... Now she is the sweetest horse I could ask for, I do some natural horsemanship with her, ride her in rope halter on the trails and go swimming with her almost every day at the beach or at the lake in the summer, and on the other hand we do some serious jumping, and I always have the feeling that she appreciates and enjoys the fun stuff.

Hi! You commented on my thread re my new Oldenburg mare. Can you tell me more about the breed? I am having a hard time finding much personalized info about them (just the same standard breed description over and over). I wasn't looking for a WB, so this is new territory for me. I am really excited, and just trying to figure out what I've gotten myself into. :p Thanks! -Tracy
