I purchased the Fodder Feed system and am on starting my 5th tray cooking today, one day day before can feed the first tray........ sure is looking promising, takes less time to prepare than stuffing 12 buckets twice a day. My horses can hardly wait for it, they are trying to get at it as I am spreading it in the trays...

Hi... I saw your posted reply about why you left your previous barn. I also noticed you are in north Texas. It's not likely that it's the same place, but the place you described sounds EXACTLY like where I'm boarding (and thinking seriously about leaving). Was your barn in Denton?

What should the mares mature weight be? and how under is she? If this mare is a 1,ooolb mare i would feed 12lbs of grain/day. split between Strat and the t. Crown until the mare starts showing inmprovement as well as lots of hay.
I use strat as well and I like it. I also add Eq. Senior to some and T.Crown complete. On a buget, it can be kind of hard but weight builder,Ult Finish (buckeye) are great sorses of putting on weight, I would try adding a 1/2 cup of corn oil to each ration of feed, as well.
As for the mare not eating all of her hay I would try wetting and putting a little salt on it. or finding a mix with little alfa and timithy. (have no idea what kind of hay you feed)
I only give these sugestions because i have been through this with T.B's and rescues.

I suggest hanging in there! If you feel the absolute need to move do so, but make sure the new place is better or just as good. And if I were you I would tell the nasty people off- But your not...
