Hey Bonny, I love that kind of historical stuff. Just dug out some old photos from the early 1980s myself. But the 50s, how great! Was your horse a descendant of the famous Greyhound? - I think horses are our best teachers about horses!

Hi Bonny, I'm having trouble with my start page and for some reason, your message didn't make it to me, I'm just reading it on your page now when I was dropping in to say, if you have any photos of that grey SB, I'd looooove to see them!

I really recommend that rope trick, softer than a martingale and multi-use. Thanks for the house comment, we started feeling it was worth it late last year, after the stereotypical mid-build blues!

Looks like you had a nice ride.
I was also intrigued by the rope from the girth around the front of the horse but over the reins. I think that is how it is set up. When you explained it, it makes sense. My sister's horse was ridden western with a tight tie down and raced around and he has his head stuck in the air. He is much better now, she doesn't use any tie down on him (rides english) and he is settling down nicely but when he get s excited, up goes the head in the air. I'm going to show her this and see what she thinks of it, as it might help him a lot.
And.. your house looks very nice, worth all the time and work you have spent on it.

...These days I don't have transport for my horses and our priorities are different (e.g. finish our house!), but I still enjoy schooling and trail riding! ...and just having them around me.

My husband took some photos recently of us going on a trail here: - so you can put faces to names if you like!

I wish you all the very best with your continued schooling and competing, keep me posted, would be great if you hyperlink me to anything you have written / will write about it!

Hello Bonny, how fantastic, congratulations! It feels great to do something like that after an absence of competition. I mainly competed as a younger person. My mare retired from endurance at age 17 due to calcifications in her hindquarters and I was busy exploring Australia. (Back in the holidays to see her and my parents and ride her and others.) Then when she was 27, I found myself married and settled and my husband encouraged me to agist her down where we lived, and I had a year of gentle trails and beach riding with her, and schooling in the arena again. She looked so wonderful for her age that I entered her in a ridden and mixed-breed halter class at the local agricultural show and we got a second and third, and the judge nearly fell over when I told her how old my horse was! And we were so comparatively out of practice, but it was fun.

Hey Bonny, I think the cybermunchers ate your first message, thanks for repeating! Riding to music is so enjoyable, as is watching such performances when they're good. My favourite Freestyle to Music was Blu Hors Matine's famous performance - you've probably seen it yourself! Loved the spirit of that horse, far more important than the technical considerations judges get overly hung up on I think...Hope you guys stay warm! We've just had the first substantial rain in over three months and hope to have a few more bursts of it before the season statistically breaks around late April... Best wishes, Sue
